Monday Lessons! Lindy Hop 103

https://www.facebook.com/events/484744082269742/

****IMPORTANT!! SCHEDULE CHANGE FOR MAY AND JUNE!!!****
We've got some time conflicts with Daync, so read carefully for time and pricing changes for May and June! Thanks for understanding!

Here's what you need to know:
8-8:10 - Registration and Warmup
8:10-9:30 - Lindy 103

Lindy Hop 102 in May and Lindy 103 in June will be structured a little differently. We're only able to do one class each month due to scheduling conflicts at the studio, so we'll be running each of these series for 3 weeks instead of 4 and extending class 20 minutes. This will give you the same 4 hours of instruction for the same price, just in fewer weeks. The drop in rate will temporarily go back up to $10 to accommodate the longer class time. Week 4 each month will be an elective -- Office Hours in May & Blues 101 in June.

This series will pick up where Lindy 102 left off -- delving EVEN deeper into technique, musicality, and partner connection to improve your social dance skills and strengthen your Lindy foundation. Perfect to help you take the next steps in your dancing or for seasoned dancers to come back to to finesse their fundamentals. You’ll need to have taken Lindy 102/Level 1 Lindy or have an equivalent level of experience for this class.

Mid-month drop ins and level qualifications will be assessed by the teachers and staff.

$25 for 3 class series (20% discount with valid student or military ID).
$10 drop-in

Remember: No street shoes on the dance floor! Bring a water bottle, as the only water source is the bathroom sink. There's some AC in the room, but it's likely to get warm once you get moving -- bring a change of shirt or towel if you think you'll need it!

Monday Elective! Blues 101

https://www.facebook.com/events/422960664921907/

Here's what you need to know:
8:00-8:10 - Registration and Warmup
8:10-9:30 - Blues 101 with Tory and Keito

Blues is a style that, in its roots, predates swing dance and has evolved over the years to a smooth, rhythmic, earthy dance that can be performed partnered or solo. It's driven by the deep pulse of the music and a strong partner connection.

$10 drop in -- not included in June series.

Remember: No street shoes on the dance floor! Bring a water bottle, as the only water source is the bathroom sink. It's likely to get a little warm once you get moving -- bring a change of shirt or towel if you think you'll need it!

Thursday Night Swing Dance

  • Best Place at the Historic Pabst Brewery (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

In honor of World Lindy Hop Day and Frankie Manning's 105th Birthday on May 26th, join us to celebrate by rewinding back a couple of decades! Frankie Manning was one of the original Savoy dancers and played a huge role in swing's revival in the 80s and 90s. We'll be rocking out to a mix of some of Frankie's favorites and those guilty pleasure retro songs from the 90s. It's always a fun night - stick around for a Frankie-lead Shim Sham and birthday cake!!

Come dressed for the theme -- in your vintage duds, neo-swing style, or just come as yourself.

If you're feeling so inclined, there's so much to learn about Frankie Manning -- there's a wealth of interviews and videos of him dancing on YouTube. He lived a pretty amazing life, so take a second (or an hour) to take a look at some of what he did -- it'll blow your mind!

A portion of all entry fees will be donated to the Frankie Manning Foundation.

8:00 - Basic 6-count lesson (no experience or partner required)
8:45-11:45 - Frankie Night, courtesy of DJ Doug

(No special cover charge for this event -- $5/$3 for students/military will apply.)

Spread the word!

Join us for a casual, open drop in session for practice, feedback, or just hanging out and dancing. This is NOT a lesson - but more of an opportunity to get some more one on one help than we can normally get to in regular classes.

We’ll have some of our teachers on hand ready to work with you or a group, but there will be no formal agenda or lesson plan. If you’ve got some questions you need answered, want some direct feedback or just want to work on your own, stop on by.

Pay what you choose/suggested donation - $5 to help cover studio costs/tip the teachers. Thanks!

Every paid entry (does not include punch cards) will get a door prize ticket, if you make an additional donation in any amount, you'll get a second ticket. We'll have a few drawings throughout the evening -- must be present to win!

Hope to see everyone out to help support this cause -- Scott takes such good care of us every week, let's show him a little love.
