7:15-8:15 - Blues 101 - The focus of this beginner series will be on the sorts of techniques, body framing, and connection that gets more experienced dancers to go "hold on, you've only been blues dancing for how long???" These classes will be approachable to the total beginner, but also content that someone who's played around with blues or been to Bluetopia or MadCity would be excited to learn.  https://www.facebook.com/events/2048087148799246/

We will be focusing specifically on the jazzy, lyrical half of blues dances, known as the "ballroomin'" genre, which feature close embrace and lots of body work. We will explore the art of dancing performatively and authentically, tackle techniques to make your predictive movement powerful, dig deep into blues musicality, liberate both follows and leads to find their place in the dance and in so doing find their voice. **Prior blues dance experience is required to take this series.**  https://www.facebook.com/events/2048899168655479/

*About Charleston 103:  Solo Charleston routine.  Solo Charleston is a natural place to add a few of the most popular vernacular Jazz movements including Fall of the Log, Fish Tails, Around the World, and Suzy-Q's, into your dance vocabulary. These traditional moves from the 20's and 30's are blended into a short 1 minute routine with natural transitions and a little sass. We hope to finish this routine in one session, but our focus is to get everyone in the class ready to dance it to music. If we don't finish we will finish in the second session.

You need some prior Charleston experience for this series.

MS Fundraiser Dance!

It's Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Month and World MS day is March 30.

As some of you may know, our dear friend behind the bar every week, Scott, rides in the MS Snowmobile Tour to raise funds for the National MS Society every year. Portions of everyone's entry/lesson fee from tonight will be pooled and donated to his campaign (no special pricing for this event, our normal prices will apply).

Like we've done for past fundraisers, we'll have a place available for you to kick in extra cash if you feel so inclined.

Hope to see everyone out to help support this cause -- Scott takes such good care of us every week, let's show him a little love.

If there's time, we'll put together some fun combinations with transitions between Lindy Hop, Charleston and solo Charleston, allowing both partners ample opportunity for expressive freedom.

Shim Sham) is required.

Mid-month drop ins and level qualifications will be assessed by the teachers and staff.

Monday Lessons! Tap for Swing Dancers!

Join us at Daync this month for a new series - Intro to Dance Styles (Level 1+)!  We'll explore 3 other styles of dance outside of the "swing" umbrella - all of which will introduce skills you can use to improve technique and/or add variations to your swing skills.  Though this is a level 2 class, the classes themselves will be beginner level.  A level 2 comfort in Lindy Hop is preferred, but equal comfort in 6-count will also qualify.

Week 3: Tap for Swing Dancers with Lyndsey!  Work on fast footwork, balance, and rhythm variations to interject into your swing.  Leave your tap shoes at home.  They will NOT be allowed on the floor and not needed for the purposes of this class -- plan on wearing your regular dance shoes.

Classes will run about 1 1/2 hours each and there will be time set aside at the end to work on your own or with a partner on applying what you've learned. These are all standalone classes, but you can save some money if you take the whole 3 part series.
$32 for 3 class series, $12 drop in (20% discount with valid student or military ID)

Remember: No street shoes on the dance floor! Bring a water bottle, as the only water source is the bathroom sink. There is some AC in the building, but it's still likely to get a little warm once you get moving -- bring a change of shirt or towel if you think you'll need it!

Week 2: Ballroom for Swing Dancers with Patricia!  Learn the basics in a few styles that can be blended with your swing to help tackle trickier music (fast tempos, non-swing rhythms, etc.).

Classes will run about 1 1/2 hours each and there will be time set aside at the end to work on your own or with a partner on applying what you've learned. These are all standalone classes, but you can save some money if you take the whole 3 part series.
