CCSwing Jazz in the Park Field Trip #2

https://www.facebook.com/events/403186296833166/

It's Field Trip season!

Join us at Jazz in the Park on the 5th to dance to the Sweet Shieks! We usually try to get there a little early to snag some real estate if you want to sit with the group. Bring a blanket, bring a snack or hit up the food/drink stands and get ready to have a blast!

****There is no dance at Best Place afterwards!!!****
We'll be back to our regularly scheduled programming on the 12th.

With Summerfest also happening, parking is likely to be tricky, so make sure you leave some extra time, take public transport, bike, or carpool.

Monday Lessons! Lindy Hop 103 & Elective 201 - Mixing it up!

Here's what you need to know:
7:00-7:15 - Registration and Warmup
7:15-8:15 - Lindy Hop 103 Part 4 of 4 with BJ and Lyndsey (and guests!) https://www.facebook.com/events/317610645437562/

This series will pick up where Lindy 102 left off -- delving EVEN deeper into technique, musicality, and partner connection to improve your social dance skills and strengthen your Lindy foundation. Perfect to help you take the next steps in your dancing or for seasoned dancers to come back to to finesse their fundamentals. You’ll need to have taken Lindy 102/Level 1 Lindy or have an equivalent level of experience for this class.

8:15-8:30 - Registration, Warmup and Level Tests (as needed)
8:30-9:30 - Elective 201 - Mixing it up! Part 4 of 4 with Andrea and Darin https://www.facebook.com/events/2052021901731999/

So you’re comfortable in Lindy AND 6- count, now what?
It’s time to start mixing up styles and learning how to blend them seamlessly with other styles within a social dance. We'll also touch on partner connection, musicality and introduce some tougher material in later weeks.

This is a 200 level class, so prior experience is required. You'll need to be very comfortable with the Lindy swingout and circle, 6-count, inside & outside turns, single and triple step 6 and 8 count footwork in both open and closed.

Mid-month drop ins and level qualifications will be assessed by the teachers and staff.

$25 for 4 class series, $30 for 5 class series -  $10 drop in (20% discount with valid student or military ID

Remember: No street shoes on the dance floor! Bring a water bottle, as the only water source is the bathroom sink. There is some AC in the building, but it's likely to get a little warm once you get moving -- bring a change of shirt or towel if you think you'll need it!

Retro Swing Night v4.0

https://www.facebook.com/events/1995508380699331/

In advance of World Lindy Hop Day and Frankie Manning's Birthday on May 26th, join us to celebrate by rewinding back a couple of decades! Frankie Manning was one of the original Savoy dancers and played a huge role in swing's revival in the 80s and 90s. We'll be rocking out to a mix of some of Frankie's favorites and those guilty pleasure retro songs from the 90s. It's always a fun night (and we usually have cake)!!

Come dressed for the theme -- in your vintage duds or neo-swing style -- or just come as yourself.

(And, fun fact....2018 is the 20th anniversary of the Gap Swing commercial that helped popularize swing dance -- and CCSwing is also in its 20th year -- much to celebrate tonight!)

If you're feeling so inclined, there's so much to learn about Frankie Manning -- there's a wealth of interviews and videos of him dancing on YouTube. He lived a pretty amazing life, so take a second (or an hour) to take a look at some of what he did -- it'll blow your mind!

8:00-8:45 Lesson - Basic 6-Count Swing - No experience or partner needed!

8:45-11:45 - Social Dancing w/DJ Doug

$5 or $3 with valid student or military ID, all inclusive
