Monday Lessons! Tap for Swing Dancers!

Join us at Daync this month for a new series - Intro to Dance Styles (Level 1+)!  We'll explore 3 other styles of dance outside of the "swing" umbrella - all of which will introduce skills you can use to improve technique and/or add variations to your swing skills.  Though this is a level 2 class, the classes themselves will be beginner level.  A level 2 comfort in Lindy Hop is preferred, but equal comfort in 6-count will also qualify.

Week 3: Tap for Swing Dancers with Lyndsey!  Work on fast footwork, balance, and rhythm variations to interject into your swing.  Leave your tap shoes at home.  They will NOT be allowed on the floor and not needed for the purposes of this class -- plan on wearing your regular dance shoes.

Classes will run about 1 1/2 hours each and there will be time set aside at the end to work on your own or with a partner on applying what you've learned. These are all standalone classes, but you can save some money if you take the whole 3 part series.
$32 for 3 class series, $12 drop in (20% discount with valid student or military ID)

Remember: No street shoes on the dance floor! Bring a water bottle, as the only water source is the bathroom sink. There is some AC in the building, but it's still likely to get a little warm once you get moving -- bring a change of shirt or towel if you think you'll need it!

Speakeasy Night!

Both of our regular rooms at Best Place are booked up tonight, so we'll be in one of their smaller rooms and, since we're so darned close to the anniversary of the repeal of prohibition, we're having a Speakeasy night!

Get all fancied up in your vintage fashion (and get another wear out of your flapper dress from Halloween) and join us in the beautiful, newly renovated "Captain's Corner" room (the former gift shop) for a cozy party.

7:30 Lesson - Level 2 Lindy Styling - Dancing "Small" with Lyndsey and Dave. We'll have about half the square footage that we're used to tonight, so join us for this lesson full of moves and stylings you can do to have fun and safe dances that don't take up a lot of room on a crowded floor!
8:30 Lesson - Basic 6-count Swing with Jenny and Mark
9-12: Speakeasy night with DJ Dave

*We will have access to the bar.

Regular prices apply: $5/$3 with valid student or military ID for 8:30 lesson and/or social dancing. $2 more to include the 7:30 lesson.

Lindy Bus Tour!

https://www.facebook.com/events/116993875641824/

A little later than usual, I know, but we're cooking up a super fun tour this year! Lots of new places, a few old favorites, the Toe Tappin' Trio, and beer, beer, beer.

Please read this WHOLE thing. There's a lot of information that you'll need to know if you want to join in.

1) RSVPing on the Facebook event page is awesome! Please do it so you can keep up with updates, but RSVPing here does NOT...I repeat, DOES NOT count as registering.

Registration opens in person at our Thursday night dance on September 28th. After that, you must contact us either by email or in person so we can get all the vital info from you and to make sure we know how many leads and follows to keep things even. You'll be able to pay in cash, credit card or online via paypal.

2) We're keeping the stops secret, as usual, but know that there will be some beer samples along the way. You may opt in or out of partaking -- you need to choose upon registering, and you will be carded and wristbanded upon check-in. No exceptions.

3) Because this is a very popular event with limited space, once you have registered, you must pay within 5 days or you'll lose your spot and get bumped to the waiting list.

4) If you can't secure a spot on the bus, there will be a wait list. We clear it almost every year due to cancellations and no-shows, so there's always a chance if you show up on the day! Anyone is welcome to tag along in a car behind the bus for no charge.

5)Please pay attention to the date, time and your availability! Last minute cancellations make things twice as complicated for us. If you cancel after Monday, October 9, you'll forfeit half of your registration fee. No registration fees will be refunded on day-of cancellations or no-shows except in extenuating circumstances.

The tour begins at 12:00! We've left 30 minutes for bus loading and people gathering. If you aren't on site and checked in by 11:45 (unless you have contacted us to let us know you're on your way) you risk losing your spot to a wait lister.

6) If you're on the bus, you've gotta DANCE!!! We'll choose new partners at each stop, usually using some creative means of pairing up. If you happen to end up without a partner (which almost never happens), you get to chat up the people around us who have no idea what's going on. Maybe ask them to dance. Maybe even hand them a business card....

$25 if you register on Thursday the 28th.
$30 for all other pre-registrations, $25 if you opt out of beer
$35 for payments on the day

Despite all of these rules, this is a super, super fun event and we can't wait to see who's coming along!

The bus will pick us up at Best Place. Know that the parking is 2 hour parking and the bus tour is 3 hours long. Park at your own risk or use the parking structure.
